For the first time this year the Red Bull Toyota driven by Brian Vickers winds up with the poll for the 3M Performance 400.  His speed was 188.536 MPH.  "This is awesome," said Brian Vickers.  He also said that he never had a car that good in qualifying.  Sitting along side of him is going to be Jimmie Johnson.

Stewart Haas Racing out with a press release saying that Ryan Newman is going to be driving for them in 2009.

ESPN.com reports that UPS is looking at being the sponsor for the craftsman Truck Series.

Sometime in the fall you will be able to buy on DVD the full ESPN series Shifting Gears with extra footage now shown on air.

Saturday Update:

Gillett Evernham Motorsports wants a little more time in order for them to decide weather Patrick Caprentier will come back next year.

Casey Mears says that it is not a done deal yet that he will be driving for Richard Childress Racing for 2009.

Chad McCumbee is a top candidate for the #45 Petty Enterpriese ride.

Michael Waltrip Racing has picked up the 2009 option for David Reutimann.  At Bristol sometime next week we are supposed to know who is going to be the sponsor for David Reutimanm.
