In some other news Derrike Cope is going to attempt a full Nationwide Series season in 2009.

Tuesday Update:

Petty Enterprises Lays off More Workers as it brings it headcount down to around 65 workers.  The company could still wind up going with a merger with Gillett Evernham Motorsports.

NASCAR Sponsors received 1.7 billion in exposure says SportsBusiness Journal/Daily.

Brad Parrott is going to be back as the crew chief for Travis Kvapil in 2009.

This link says that Bobby Labonte may be negotiating to become the driver of the #41 car, but he is signed to be the driver of the #43 car until 2012.  It also says that Bass Pro Shops could leave Martin Truex Jr. as a sponsor if they do not have two other fully sponsored cars

5-Hour Energy is going to be a primary sponsor for 10 races for the Steven Wallace #66 Nationwide Series car he drives.  They will also be an associate sponsor for 25 races on the same car.

The Nationwide Series team that Ganassi had in 2008 has also shut down now as Fastenal sponsor has left the team to look at sponsoring another team.
