Final look at 2009 Nationwide Series Drivers...

This is my final look at the Nationwide Series drivers.  Info can change at any time.  The list does start out with car that have a solid possibility of running every single race.  Up next will be one final look at the Sprint Cup drivers.

12--Justin Allgaier--Penske Motorsports.

Just in 2008 racked up the ARCA title with six wins 16 top ten place finishes. Verizon is going to sponsor this car for a full season of racing.  I say he picks up 12-17 top tens and finishes 8-12th place in the points.

16--Greg Biffle, Matt Kenseth, Colin Braun, Ricky Steinhouse Jr.--Roush Fenway Racing

Greg Biffle had 15 starts in 2008 and racked up ten top ten finishes.  Citi Financial will back to sponsor this car, but Greg will only be back for another 15 races in 2009.  Matt Kenseth will get the car for 12, Ricky for seven, and Colin for one.  I think Greg can get a win and 10 top ten finishes.  Matt will pick up a win and three top ten place finishes.   No top tens for the other drivers.

NA--Patrick Sheltra--Sheltra Motorsports

Finished in sixth place this year in the ARCA Re/max series in 2008.  Is supposed to drive in seven races.  No sponsorship announced yet.  I say he gets no more than 2 top 20 place finishes in the races that he will run.

5--Dale Earnhardt Jr., Mark Martin, Tony Stewart, Landon Cassill, Scott Wimmer--JR Motorsports

This will be a split driver team like it was in 2008.  Last year this car finished a full season with two wins.  And an 11th place finish in the points.  Will drive in 11 races with Unilever, and Delphi as sponsors.  GoDaddy.com will sponsor the car for two races and Fastenal has come in to sponsor this car for 14 races. The car will be in more races if it gets extra sponsorship.  I say this car gets in 25-30 races this year.  It will also get a couple of wins and 12-15 top tens.

9-Chase Miller, Kasey Kahne, Elliott Sadler, & Reed Sorenson--Gillett Evernham Motorsports

This is a split team just like last year.  The car finished 15th place in the owner standings with 11 top ten finishes.  Subway and Motorola could wind up sponsoring this car.  I say this car gets in 10 races in 2009 with only a few top ten place finishes.

10--Brian Vickers, Kyle Busch, Denny Hamlin, Justin Marks, David Reutimann--Braun Racing

This was a part time car in 2008 with only seven starts, but four top tens.  Haas Avacados and other sponsors will back to sponsor this car.  Beringer will sponsor this four races with David Reutimann as a sponsor.  I say this tem gets in no more than 10-15 races in 2009.  Reutimann will pick up a couple of top ten place finishes.

13--Johnny Sauter--Thor Motorsports

Johnny Was in 12 Nationwide Series race in 20008 with no top tens. This team is looking to run a handful of races, but needs sponsorship.  I say they get no more than ten races with 0 top tens.

21--Austin Dillion--Richard Childress

Austin did some Camping World East racing where he picked up one win and 10 top ten finishes in thirteen starts.  Realtree is going to sponsor this car for some races.  They could run a full season, but I do not see it.  I see three top 20 place finishes in no more than 10-15 races this year.

25--Bobby Hamilton Jr.--Rensi/Hamilton Racing

Had 33 starts in 2008 to finish 15th place in the points with only 2 top ten finishes.  Needs sponsorship badly or will not race at all.  I do not see this car getting out much and in under 10 races this year picks up at most 2 top ten place finishes.

51--Stanton Barrett--Rick Ware Racing

Stanton had 27 starts in 2008 with a best finish of 11th.  If he has the time he will run a partial schedule with NOS Energy Drink as a sponsor.  I say he get no top tens in a couple of early races before the IRL season starts.

36--Marc Davis--Marc Davis Motorsports

Marc plans to run some early races With Camping World and BOB-CAT as a sponsor.  In 2008 he had four Nationwide Series starts with no top tens.  I say he gets one top 20 in the few races that he is going to run.

47--Kelly Bires, Michael McDowell--JTG Daugherty Racing

Kelly had six top tens in 2008 for a full season of racing.  Michael McDowell had only 2 races with no top tens.  Michael should be in this car for around 16 races, Kelly though needs sponsorship or he does not run.  I think Michael can pull in 2-5 top tens for all the races that he runs.

59--Marcos Ambrose, Coleman Pressley--JTG Daugherty Racing

This car was full time in 2008 with Marcos Ambrose where was able to finish tenth place in the points and pick up one win.  Marcos in 2009 will race at most 20 races.  Coleman is a development driver for them and did some ARCA driving in 2008.  This team also needs sponsorship.  I do not see a full year for this car.  Marcos gets around 10 races in this car and a few top tens.  Coleman Pressley gets around another 10 races and only two top tens at best.

77--Peyton Sellers--Cardinal Motorsports

This is a brand new team that expects to race 10-15 times in the 2009 season.  SFP has been named as a sponsor for 10 races on this car, but no car number has been announced yet.  He had a couple of wins in the 2008 Camping World East Series.  I say at best he gets a couple of top ten tens finishes in his limited schedule.

80--Tony Stewart--Hendrick Motorsports.

This car will be in the Camping World 300 with Hendrickcars.com as the sponsor.  I say he pulls in a top 20 finish.

98--Paul Menard--Yates Racing

This is going to be anew team in 2009 where it will be in 16 races with Menard's and Rheem Water Heaters as a sponsor.  He did not race at all in the Nationwide Series in 2008.  I say he pulls in 4-5 top tens, but no wins in his limited driving schedule.
