Third Look At Sprint Cup Drivers....

This is my third and final look at Sprint Cup drivers that I have major confidence of running the full season.  Sponsorship and other data in this link change at anytime though.

39--Ryan Newman--Stewart Haas Racing

This was the #66 car in 2008 that had only one top ten in 2008.  Ryan Newman though won the Daytona 500 in 2008 and then went winless for the rest of the year.  Came in 17th in points.  They have US Army sponsorship, but needs more to finish off the full year.  I say he finishes off a year with no wins, but has 7-12 top ten place finishes. He will finish 17-25th place in the points at the end of the year.

42--Juan Pablo Montoya--Earnhardt Ganassi Racing

This team moves over in a merger with DEI.  Juan only had three top tens in a full season of racing. Target is going to sponsor this car.  I say he has a better season that 2008.  He will get 5-8 top tens and finish 22-25th place in the standings.

43--Reed Sorenson--Richard Petty Motorsports

This team needs sponsorship and wound up in a merger with Gillett Evernham Motorsports.   PVA.org though could sponsor this team for two races in 2009 and the U.S. Air Force could also be a sponsor. Bobby Labonte was the driver of this car in 2008 and had only two top tens all season long.  For the 2008 season Reed only pick up two top ten finishes in 35 starts. I say he gets at best three top tens in a not so stellar year and finishes 30-35th place in the points.

47--Marcos Ambrose--JTG Daugherty Racing

He moves over from his Nationwide series ride to run full time in the Sprint Cup cars for 2009.  Marcos had 11 Sprint Cup starts in 2008 with one top five.  In his 2008 Nationwide Series season he completed a full year that included one win and six top tens place finishes onto a tenth place finish in the points.  Little Debbie's and Kingsford Charcoal is going to sponsor him this year.  He has a shot for a win on the road courses.  I think he will pull in 3-5 top tens and finish and finish 22-26th place in the points.

48--Jimmie Johnson--Rick Hendrick

Won his third championship in a row in 2008.  He picked off seven wins and 22 top tens in his 2008 effort.  Lowe's will back to sponsor him again in 2009.  I say Jimmie has 6-8 wins in 2009 and around 25 top ten place finishes.  He will finish first to third place in the points.

55--Michael Waltrip--Michael Waltrip Racing

Michael Waltrip had two top tens in a full season of racing in 2008.  NAPA is going to be back as the sponsor for this team.  I think at best he gets three top tens in 2009. Michael Will finish 25-28th in the points.

77--Sam Hornish Jr.--Penske Racing

Sam is going to start his second full year of Sprint Cup racing in 2009.  For the 2008 season he had 0 top ten place finishes.  Mobil 1 and AAA is going to help sponsor this car in 2009.  I say he pulls in a couple of top tens and improves to 27-30th place in the points.

82--Scott Speed--Red Bull Racing

This car was the #84 car that in 2008 was mostly driven by A.J. Allmendinger.  Scott Speed only had 5 Sprint Cup starts in 2008 with no top tens.  He did have one win in 16 starts in the truck series in 2008 though.  The #84 car though had two top tens in the 2008 season.  Red Bull is the sponsor for this car.  I say he gets 5-8 top tens in 2008, but no wins.  He will finish 17-21st place in the points.

83--Brian Vickers--Red Bull Racing

Brian Vickers wound up with six top tens in the 2008 season to finish 19th place in the points in 2008.  Red Bull is the sponsor for this car.  I say he has a shot to squeeze out one win in 2009 while picking up 5-8 top tens.  He will finish 17-19th place in the points in 2009.

88--Dale Earnhardt Jr.--Rick Hendrick

Dale picked up a win at the Budweiser Shootout and then one more win 2008.  He finished the year with 16 top tens and a 12th place finish in the points. Mountain Dew Amp Energy Drink will sponsor this car for the season.  I say he gets three wins in 2009 and 15-20 top tens.  He will get a 1st to third place finish in the points.

96--Bobby Labonte--Hall Of Fame Racing

Bobby Labonte has been named as a driver for this team and will get the owners points for the #28 car. The team is now moving over to Fords for the 2009 season. Texas Instruments will be back as a sponsor if it runs.  This car had various drivers in 2008 and was only in 31 races.    The car only had one top ten.  Bobby In 2008 had 2 top tens and a 21st place in the points. I say this car improves big time and gets 3-4 top tens, but finishes 22-25th place in the points.

98--Paul Menard--Yates Racing

Paul leaves DEI with his sponsor over to Yates Racing and this new team. Will get the owners points from the #38 Yates car. He finished 26th place in the points with one top ten. Menard's is returning with Paul as the sponsor.  I do not think he is going to do that much better than his 2008 season.  At most a couple of top tens and a 26-28th place in the standings at the end of the year.

99--Carl Edwards--Roush Fenway Racing

Carl finished second place in the points after racking a grand total of nine wins and 27 top ten finishes. Aflac is going to be the main sponsor for this team.  Carl will be back again in 2009 with another 7-9 wins and 25-28 top tens.  He will finish 1st to 3rd place in the points.
