The Pit Stop

February 22, 2009 3:26 AM

Busch has a perfect day.

After totally trashing the truck series race with a win and over 90 laps led Kyle Busch went on top to set an all time NASCAR first by winning two major NASCAR races in one single day.  Carl Edwards though was the poll sitter for this race.

"Performed real well in practice," said Kyle Busch on his car.  Carl Edwards said that his car is real fast. Jeff Burton said that his car was loose yesterday.

At the drop of the green flag it went so long we had green flag pit stops.  Michael Annett and David Reutimann were the early rockets moving up the field while Kyle Busch busted out to an 8 second lead over Carl Edwards before he finally pitted on lap 41.

During this round of pit stop Michael Waltrip got spun out trying top get into his pit stall by Brandon Whitt

After the pit stops were over Kyle Busch was able to get a 10 second plus lead over new second place driver Kevin Harvick.  The first caution finally comes out at lap 52 as Michael McDowell and his car blows up biog time with a massive fire display.  Michael said that he thought it was not the engine that blew.

That caution brought in all the leaders.  Kyle Busch kept the lead while Mike Bliss on some pit strategy came out in second.  When the green flag dropped mike got into the oil dry on the track and that put Carl Edwards quickly back into second place.

Kyle kept the lead during another long green flag run, but Carl was much closer this time.  At lap 90 the second caution of the day came out as Brian Vickers who went way to low trying to pass Greg Biffle spins out.  This brought in all the leaders again with Kyle Busch leading the race off pit road again.

The green flag dropped and we finally got a short green flag run where the caution came out with 55 laps to go as Brad Keslowski spins out with from Greg Biffle.  With nowhere to go and getting damage was Jason Leffler.

The green flag dropped with 50 laps left and it was another great restart by Kyle Busch with Carl Edwards in second.  Carl was able to keep it close again and then the caution came out with 22 laps to go for the crashing car of Greg Biffle.

This caution brought in the cars for the final pit stop of the day.  Carl Edwards was finally able to get his first lead of the day off of pit road, just beating Kyle Busch.

With 16 laps to go the green flag dropped. Kyle Busch and Kevin Harvick made it three wide to help get the lead of the race away from Carl Edwards.  Carl dropped to around 5th spot while Kyle took the lead of the race.

Around 9 laps left in the race Carl was in a battle for third place with Joey Logano.  Kyle Busch though was just cruising along to win another race.

"It's just a blast," said Kyle Busch.  He did say it was even more special to win two races.

Having trouble on restarts all night said Carl Edwards.  He also said that Kyle was in a league of his own.

In points Kyle Busch and his win moved him up to the top of the standings.
