Earlier in the day Brendan Gaughan won his first poll ever for the Scotts Turf Builder 300. "Real excited about this race," said Brad Keselowski. "Great Ford Fusion," said Carl Edwards.
It took Carl Edwards until lap 7 in order to get the lead of the race and then the first caution came on lap nine for a Mike Bliss spin. The second caution came out on lap 19 for Kevin Hamlin who crashes.
At lap 31 it was Kyle Busch finally getting to lead for the first time today. Then at lap 40 it was Trevor Bayne and Brandon Whitt spinning out to bring out the caution. At lap 62 it was Brendan Gaughn with tire problems having to make a green flag pit stop.
At lap 86 it was Danny O'Quinn and his car that was smoking to bring out the caution and first mass set of pit stops for the leaders. Kyle Busch was able to lead the cars off pit road.
At lap 103 with some help from some three wide racing Carl Edwards was able to get the lead of the race again. Then at lap 137 the caution came out again for Kenny Hendrick. Around the time of the caution Joey Logano had a blown tire. This caution also brought in the cars on the lead lap.
The green flag dropped at lap 144 and Kyle Busch shot out like a rocket to take the lead of the race. At lap 155 with some help from Burney Lamar it was Marc Davis spinning out.
The next caution came out on lap 173 for the next Mike Bliss spin. Kyle Busch was still leading the race at this point of time with Carl Edwards in second. Around lap 186 it was Morgan Shepherd spinning out to bring out the caution.
With 80 laps left nothing changed up front as Kyle Busch leads with Carl Edwards in second and Kevin Harvick in third.
Around sixty laps to go and a battle for the lead occurred between Carl and Kyle with Kyle winning the battle. Then with 47 laps left it was Brad Keselowksi and his banged up racecar bringing out the caution.
The leaders pitted and Kevin Harvick won the race off the pit road and the lead of the race with Carl Edwards in second. Kyle Busch had some pit problems due to a tire getting away putting him back to 15th.
With 39 laps to go it was a major mess with the cars of Jon Wes Townley, Brad Keselowski, Brendan Gaughan, and Morgan Shepherd getting together.
After the green flag finally dropped it was Kevin Harvick getting a great restart. With 20 laps left Kyle was up to eighth and with 12 to go he was up to sixth Kevin Harvick though maintaining a 1.5 second plus lead over Carl onto his first victory in a Kevin Harvick Incorporated car.
"Finally we got this out of the way," said Kevin Harvick. "Today was his day," said Delana Harvick.
"Great points day," said Carl Edwards.
Car was little bit too tight all daylong said Clint Boyer.
Matt Kenseth said that he could not get the car to drive the way he wanted to.
After the end of the race Carl Edwards has increased his lead over Kyle Busch to 124 points. Kevin Harvick though is second in points, only 114 points back.
