The Pit Stop

Another dominating win by Kyle.

Nationwide series drivers are at Texas on a nice sunny day for the O'Reilly 300.  Kyle Busch took the poll in qualifying that occurred on Thursday.

Kyle Busch stated that his car was good.

At the drop of the green flag it was a long green flag run that lasted past the first round of green flag pit stops that started around lap 52.  During that time Brad Keselowski wound up being the only rocket in a back up car.

Kyle Busch though was leading lap after lap and putting over half the field down a lap.  Jeff Burton moved his way up to second place.

During pit stops Brad Stayed out to lead a lap.  Dale Jr. wound up with a tire problem that caused him to make a second pit stop.  At lap 66 the caution finally came out for debris.  This left only 12 cars on the lap at the time of the caution including Brad who got the free pass.

After pit stops by the cars on the lead lap it was Tony Stewart getting the lead of the race with Kyle Busch in second.  The green flag dropped and it took a couple laps for Kyle Busch to pass a couple cars who were on the tail end of the lead lap.

Jeff Burton on lap 90 marched his way up to lead of the race, but Kyle Busch was right back in the lead on lap 106.  The second caution finally came out around lap 118.

During this long green flag run it was more of the same as Kyle Busch was leading more laps.

At lap 160 we got caution three on the day for Brendan Gaughn who spun out in the grass. It was another quality pit stop for Kyle Busch as he won the race easily off pit road. Brad Keselowski though was able to come out in third.

With fewer than 20 laps left Brad Keselowki was closing in on Kyle Busch.  With 12 laps left the caution came out for the car of John Wes Townley.   Around half of the cars in the field pit for fresh tires.   Tony Stewart led the cars that came in off pit road and was out in sixth place.

The green flag dropped with seven laps left and with a bad restart by Brad Keselowski, Joey Logano was able to get side by side for the second spot.  A couple laps go by and Carl Edwards would up having to go to pit road after hitting the wall.  On the next lap it was Tony Stewart all the way up to second, but around 2 seconds back.  Tony caught up a half second, but just did not have enough time to catch Kyle as he wins the race.

Kyle Busch said it was cool that it was going to be a battle if it was going to stay green.

Brad Keselowki said that if it stayed green we would have had something for Kyle.  "This is exactly what we needed."  Brad moves up to eight spots in the points to seventh place in the standings.

Carl Edwards said that he was racing hard and did not need to hit the wall.

Joey Logano said that it was his fault with his hit with Carl Edwards.

Carl Edwards though still leaves Texas with the lead in points, but his lead has fallen to under 40 points.
