Jeff Gordon finally wins one.

David Reutimann had the poll for the Samsung 500 this week with Jeff Gordon in second as he goes for his first ever win at this track.  Carl Edwards stated that his car was good in practice.

The race started out with long green flag runs all day long.  The first one came out on lap 97 for debis.  During this time Jeff Gordon started out leading the first few laps and then David Reutimann runs Jeff Gordon for the lead of the race.

Matt Kenseth started getting hot and he was able to get the lead of the race on lap 47.  A few more laps go by and Green flag pit stops start occurring.  More and more cars started to go a lap down and at lap 88 it was Tony Stewart getting the lead of the race.

Getting the lucky dog was A.J. Allmendinger.  Leaving around 25 left on the lead lap.  Matt Kenseth was to win the race off pit road and the lead of the race.

After the green flag dropped it was Kyle Busch on lap 109 cutting a tire after some contact with Jeff Andretti.  At lap 117 Greg Biffle got the lead of the race from Matt Kenseth and started to break out a 3 second plus lead. Around lap 150 it was green flag pit stops and right after they all ended it was the car of Elliott Sadler spinning out on lap 157 around the start/finish line.  Winding up going one lap down though was David Reutimann for pitting outside the box.

The green flag dropped at lap 162 with Greg Biffle in the lead and Matt Kenseth in second and yet another long green flag run with Greg Biffle leading most of the way.  At lap 208 it was Tony Stewart getting back in the lead of the race.  Then at lap 220 it was Marcos Ambrose and his engine going poof to bring out the caution.

Jeff Gordon and Mark Martin stay out to lead the race. This led to the shortest green flag run so far.  With 103 laps to the fourth caution of the day comes out for Sam Hornish Jr. who gets loose and then hits Bobby Labonte.

This caution saw only a few cars come in for tires and fuel.  After the green flag dropped it was another short green flag run and at with 82 laps left Robby Gordon and his Engine went bust. Getting the lucky dog pass this time was David Reutimann.  This caution brought in all the leaders and Dale Jr. who just takes on fuel leads the race with Matt Kenseth out in second.

After the green flag dropped it was not long and Jeff Gordon was back in the lead of the race.  Dale Jr. who had the lead got up into the stay-dry stuff at the restart shuffling him back around 5 spots.

With 60 laps left It Was Jeff Gordon in the lead with Carl Edwards and Tony Stewart closing in.   With 42 laps left it was David Ragan and his car on pit road and was overheating.  On the next lap Jeff Gordon had a slow enough of a lap Carl Edwards wound up getting side by side of Jeff for the lead of the race.

After a couple laps Carl Edwards got the lead of the race and started to break out a one second lead.  With 31 laps left it was David Stremme spinning out to bring out the caution.

The cars on the lead pit and Carl Edwards with all types of trouble did not even get out in the top ten.  Getting the lead off pit road though was Jeff Gordon.

The green flag dropped with 26 laps left and Jeff Gordon was able to break out from the field.  Jimmie Johnson finally made it up to second place by passing Tony Stewart.

With 6 six laps left Jeff got in some trouble with traffic and hid lead started to dwindle big time, but Jimmie Johnson did not have enough time to catch up as Jeff Gordon finally wins his first race at Texas.

"How ironic is this," said Jeff Gordon on his first win in 47 races.  "This whole year has been amazing."  He also stated that his car was fast at the start of the race.

Jimmie Johnson said the team made the car very very good at the end.

"We just could not take off on the short runs," said Tony Stewart.

Greg Biffle said the team was good on making adjustments.

After the end of the race Jeff Gordon has increased his lead to over 150 points to Jimmie Johnson.
