Kahne wins second race of year...

With two races left before the chase starts Sprint Cup drivers made their way over to Atlanta.  Qualifying on Saturday saw Martin Truex Jr. pick up the poll for the event.  Sitting along side of him was Kasey Kahne in second.

Kasey Kahne stated that he hopes to keep the track position that got through qualifying.  Kyle Busch stated that he will not make the chase if he falls back any further.

The first green flag run lasted around 37 laps with Martin Truex. Jr. leading all the laps and the caution came out for a Sam Hornish Jr. spin in the grass.  The leaders pitted and it was Kasey Kahne getting the lead of the race.

After the green flag dropped it was not long before Martin Truex Jr. took the lead back.  Jeff Gordon during this green flag started to drop back and then at lap 60 it was the second spin for Sam Hornish Jr. in the grass.

The leaders pitted again and it was Kyle Busch winning the race off pit road.  He led some laps after the green flag dropped and kept the lead until Jimmie Johnson took the lead on lap 73.  Green flag racing continued until lap 82 when Carl Edwards and his car went bad.  His car went behind the wall to replace a radiator and lost 23 laps in the process.

During this green flag run Kyle Busch and Martin Truex Jr. lead more laps and Max Papis on lap 104 bring out the caution as he blows his tire.  The leaders come in again and Kyle Busch led cars off pit road again.

During this green flag run Denny Hamlin finally got to lead at lap 110.  Jimmie Johnson battled back and took the lead at lap 128.  Three laps later and a debris caution comes out.  This time it was Jeff Gordon winning the race off pit road.

This led to very long green flag run this time where Jeff Gordon led a whole bunch of laps and then at lap 167 it was Denny Hamlin getting the lead back.  It only last for one lap and then Kevin Harvick took the lead

During this green flag run Jimmie Johnson, Joey Logano, and other cars start sliding back in the field.

Around lap 185 it was green flag pit stop time and Kevin Harvick kept the lead after pit stops were over.

At lap 201 it was Jimmie Johnson spinning his car out to bring out a caution.  The leaders all came down and Kevin Harvick was able to keep his lead.  Tony Stewart had to make a second pit stop for missing lug nuts.

The green flag dropped and Kasey Kahne had the better restart and took the lead of the race.  Kevin was able to battle back and take the lead on lap 228, but lost it again on lap 230.  On the next lap Kevin fully won the battle for first.

Eight more laps go by and Kevin Harvick puts Tony Stewart one lap down.  At lap 245 the caution comes out as Kurt Busch spins out. With nowhere to go and getting damage was Reed Sorenson.  "Just couldn't get the handle on it," said Kurt Busch.

The leaders pit and Jimmie Johnson goes behind to wall to replace a broken axel.  It put him down three laps. Brian Vickers also had an axel problem, but somehow was able to stay on the leap lap.  Kasey Kahne winds up leading the cars off pit road.    The green flag drops and Kasey Kahne wins the battle off pit road.

Around 65 laps to go it was Jimmie Johnson back behind the wall again.  With 57 laps left Joey Logano spins out.  He barely touched the wall.  Clint Boyer almost spun out due to Joey's spin.

Kasey Kahne was able to win the race of pit road.  After the green flag dropped Khane took the lead of the race, but in a couple laps it was Juan Pablo Montoya in the lead for the first time tonight.

With 28 laps left Kevin Harvick took over second place from Kasey Kahne.  Kevin started to close in and with 21 laps left took the lead of the race. With 16 laps left as Kyle Busch was going a lap down Clint Boyer spins out in the grass to bring out the caution.

The leaders pit and Kevin Harvick won the race off pit road.  With 11 laps left the green flag dropped and Kasey Kane won the battle for first and then quickly busted out to a 1 second plus lead and then the win of the race.

"This is a big win," Said Kenny Francis who is the crew chief for Kasey Kahne.

Kahne stated that Harvick and Juan were tough at the end/

"Just a good night for us," said Kevin Harvick.

Juan Pablo Montoya said getting a third place finish gets him closer to the chase.
