Two In A Row For Jimmie.

Rain stayed away today for the running of the Shelby American 400. Kurt Busch set a new track speed record as he picked of the poll for the race.

"Real happy with car yesterday," said Mark Martin. "Pretty decent this weekend," said Kyle Busch on his car.
After the first caution on lap 2 for a Kevin Conway spin it was the first long green flag run of the day. Jeff Gordon wound up leading the race until the next caution came out for Mike Bliss and his wrecked car on lap 46.
Jeff Gordon was able to lead the race off pit road with Greg Biffle coming out in second. The green flag comes out on lap 53. Greg Biffle quickly get the lead of the race, but then the caution comes out as the caution lights out on the race track did not turn off in time.

At lap 56 it was green flag racing time again and Jeff Gordon quickly got the lead of the race back. Green Flag racing continued until lap 87 for a Sam Hornish Jr. Spin. This caution brought in all the leaders and Matt Kenseth won the race off pit road.
Green flag racing did not last long and it was Jamie McMurray hitting into Juan Pablo Montoya taking him out. Also getting damage from this wreck was Kurt Busch.

It was another short green flag run and at lap 107 the caution light somehow turned on. This time most of the leaders pit, but Scott Speed stays out to lead the race. The green flag dropped and Jeff Gordon got the lead of the race as Scott had a bad restart.

At lap 146 it was Matt Kenseth coming in early to replace a bad tire. The full round of green flag pit stops started around lap 161 and after pits stops finished it was Jeff Gordon back in the lead of the race with Jimmie Johnson in second.
Around 84 laps to go it was Jeff Burton in for four fresh tires early. By lap 200 it was only 12 cars left on the lead lap. Around 55 laps left saw another round of green flag pit stops. Kevin Harvick in third place was 10 seconds back of Jeff Gordon at this time as well.

During the round of green flag pit stops Tony Stewart had the lead for a couple laps before Jeff Gordon took it back. The caution finally came out with 39 laps to go for Kevin Conway and his spinning car. The caution was a big time save for Matt Kenseth and Jeff Burton who were off regular pit sequence. David Reutimann got the lucky dog pass which put only 12 cars left on the lead lap before the wave around rule put 9 more cars back on the lead lap.

The green flag dropped with 34 laps left and Jeff Gordon got the lead of the race again very quickly. Jimmie Johnson took second again. Jimmie kept on creeping up to Jeff and finally passed him for the lead of the race with 16 laps left.
With four laps left it was Kevin Harvick moving into second place, but was almost 2 seconds pack of Jimmie who went on to win the race.

"That was one heck of a race," said Jimmie Johnson. He also stated that he did not know that if he got by Jeff that he would keep the lead.

Kevin Harvick stated that when he got track position out car was really fast.

"We had the car," said Jeff Gordon. "We fought him(Jimmie) off as long as we could."
