NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Driver Marcos Ambrose Joins Team At Blundstone Safety Boots

The Venerable 140 Year Old Aussie Footwear Brand Supports Fellow Countryman in his U.S. NASCAR Bid

(Hobart, Australia, April 27rd, 2010) - Two great Australian imports have teamed up in America. NASCAR driver Marcos Ambrose, one of American motorsport's rising stars, and Blundstone Australia, have signed a marketing and promotion agreement for the balance of the NASCAR Sprint Cup 2010 season, both camps announced today.

"As a kid growing up in Tasmania, Blundstone boots were almost part of the uniform for any outdoor activities, and I remember there was always a pair at the backdoor for me" Marcos recalled. "I know from the Blundstone Safety boots I've been wearing around the NASCAR garages, that they're going to get lots of interest in all workplaces around America. They're obviously super comfortable, but I doubt there is a safer boot made anywhere in the world."

In only his second full season in top tier NASCAR, Ambrose has recorded five top-five and eight top-10 finishes. Ambrose also owns a pair of wins in the NASCAR Nationwide Series at Watkins Glen International. Now, Ambrose is looking for his first Cup win this season in this weekend's Aaron's 499 at Talladega Superspeedway in Alabama.

"Marcos is a tough competitor and skilled athlete, who is also a gentleman and a very savvy business partner," said Andrew Ross, CFO and Company Secretary of Blundstone Australia Pty Ltd.

"With Marcos, we look forward to a championship season on and off the track," Ross added "And if anyone should know about the supreme importance of safety at work; it's a guy racing round the track at 200miles per hour every weekend"

"As part of the agreement, I will feature Blundstone logo branding on my helmet and the Blundstone Steel-Toed Safety Boots are now the official boot of our team, JTG Daugherty Racing" explained Marcos.

Blundstone has the right to Marcos' and his team's image and likeness, car, uniform, car number and signature for Blundstone's general promotion and marketing purposes in the United States.

Ambrose, who drives Toyota No. 47 Toyota Camry and started fourth on the grid just two weeks ago in the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series at Phoenix International Raceway, is gunning to register wins and add to his strong finishes.

Ambrose continued "I'm proud to be in business with such a revered company from my homeland. To me, Blundstone represents strength, quality and staying power as witnessed by the company celebrating its 140th anniversary this year. Not many companies in the world can say they have achieved that," he added.

Ambrose is the first Australian to complete a full top tier NASCAR championship season. He is also one of two non-US citizens to win a NASCAR race, sharing that honor with former Formula One driver, Columbian Juan Pablo Montoya
