Newman Steals The Victory

Sprint Cup Drivers are at Phoenix for the Subway Fresh Fit 600. This year the spring race is 100K longer. Roughly 60 more laps of green lag racing. A.J. Allmendinger picked up his first sprint cup poll of his career this week. It is the first poll for the #43 car since 1999.

"I feel better than I have," said Denny Hamlin. He stated that he would wait until around lap 50 to decide if he was going to go all the way in the race.

Jimmie Johnson stated that the track was much looser.

A.J. Allmendinger started leading laps until the first caution of the day came out on lap 14 for Kasey Kahne and Kurt Busch spinning out. Denny Hamlin goes low, but not low enough and Kurt winds up hitting his car. "I didn't see it," Said Kasey Kahne.
Leaders pitted and Ryan Newman got to restart the race in the lead. After green flag racing started it was not long and Jamie McMurray spins out on lap 23. After the green flag dropped it was Tony Stewart leading laps. Juan Montoya finally got the lead of the race on lap 38. Green flag racing continued until lap 56 as Brian Vickers blows a tires and crashes into the wall.
Green flag racing started again with Juan leading laps. This was the first long green flag run of the day. Around lap 100 it was Jimmie Johnson who was getting hot and cutting into the lead Juan had big time. Then at lap 130 it was Jimmie in the lead of the race as it was green flag pit stop time.

At lap 135 though the caution came out as debris from the Kurt Busch car brings out the caution. After the green flag dropped Jimmie Johnson quickly took the lead of the race. He kept on leading laps and the next caution came out on lap 188 for oil out on the track.

When the green flag dropped again Jimmie Johnson was leading more and more laps. This was the second long green flag run of the night. Jimmie kept on leading the race and the caution came out on lap 256 for David Reuitmann and he spins out.
This caution brought in all leaders and Jimmie Johnson won the race off pit road. This time after the green flag dropped Kyle Busch took the lead of the race while Jimmie Johnson was put into second and Juan Pablo Montoya was in third.

By lap 300 Jimmie was able to catch up to Kyle, but it was Kyle who got away again. At lap 314 the caution had to come out again as Travis Kvapil blows an engine. The leaders pitted and Kyle Busch won the race off pit road.

Kyle quickly got the lead of the race with Jimmie Johnson stuck in second and in third was Jeff Gordon. Kyle Broke out into such a big lead no one was able to catch up to him, but with four laps left Scott Riggs smacks the wall hard enough to bring out the caution.

The leaders pitted. Jeff Gordon with two tires won the race off pit road. It took only one restart as Ryan Newman was able to get the lead and keep it for the win.

Ryan stated that it was a long time coming for him to get to victory lane.
