Kurt Gets A Million

Tonight is a hot night for some on All-Star Race action. With no points on the line drivers are going to be going for 1 million bucks in the 100 lap main event with new rules to increase excitement.

The first round of the night is the Showdown race which is 40 laps long and the top two drivers of the event are going to make it to the main event. 29 cars are in this event. The poll sitter for this event is David Ragan due to rain killing qualifying for the whole event. The only other driver to make it into the main event will get in through voting.

At the drop of the green flag it got wild in a hurray with some three wide racing. A.J. Allmendinger was the hot car in the first 20 lap segment. David Ragan was leading all the laps and the first caution comes out on lap 17 as Juan Pablo Montoya wind up crashing into the wall due to his hit with Regan Smith. Juan stated that he got hit in the rear.

In the final 20 laps this time only the green flag lap count. It was another wild restart where David Ragan winds up going high which caused David Gilliand to wind up crashing. Greg Biffle wound up leading the race. With seven laps left Martin Truex Jr. was battling Greg for the lead of the race. It took a lap and Martin won the battle for the lead of the race. He finishes to win the Showdown and moves on to the main event. Greg Biffle in second also moves on to the final as well.

"It was fun," said Martin on the race. He stated that when he got into clean air his car felt really good.
Up next is the main and a four segment 100 lap event. Kurt has the poll for this event. The winner of the Sprint fan vote was Carl Edwards and he gets a second shot at winning the 1 million bucks. During the driver intros Brian Vickers showed up as Casey Mears and the 83 team was announced.

The first segment of the night will last for 50 laps and is broken up into two 25 laps segments. At the drop of the green flag for the main event Jimmie Johnson was an early rocket and Jeff Gordon smacked into the wall, but did not bring out the caution. Jimmie was able take the lead of the race around lap 10.

Another early rocket was Denny Hamlin as he marched his way up through the field. At lap 25 it was a mandatory stop for four tires. Kyle Busch was the fastest car off pit road. During the next 25 laps it was Kyle leading some lap and the Kurt Busch took over the lead with Jimmie Johnson closing in on both of them.

After the first segment was over everyone pitted. Jimmie Johnson takes the lead of the race as he takes only two tires. The second segment is only 20 laps long and only Jimmie Johnson led all but one of those laps in the segment.
Seven cars stay out while the rest of the field comes down for service. This segment is also going to last 20 laps. Jimmie Johnson led those laps with Denny Hamlin moving up to second.

This led to a 10 minute break where teams can work on their cars, but can't change the tires. After the cars got back on the track they had to come down for a mandatory four tire pit stop. Denny Hamlin was the fastest car on pit road with Kyle Busch coming out in second. This segment last ten laps with cautions laps not counting at all.

The green flag drops and a big wreck occurs as Joey Logano and Jamie McMurray hit Mark Martin. Also getting involved was Jeff Gordon, Kasey Kahne, Tony Stewart, Jamie McMurray, and more. "It was pretty wild," said Mark Martin. He stated that he did not know what happened.

The green flag drops again with 10 laps left and this was a clean start. With 8 laps left Kyle Busch got up so high he hit the wall, this helped cause Kurt Busch to get the lead of the race. With five laps left Casey Mears hits the wall.
The next caution comes out with 2 laps left as Kyle Busch hit the wall had and then wound up hitting Kasey Kahne. Both cars went behind the wall.

The green flag drops again and right before Kurt Busch finished the lap Jimmie Johnson spins out in the grass and takes a lot of grass with him. The green flag drops with two laps left and Kurt got another great restart. He had such a great lead he went on to win his first all-star race.

"This is a wonderful win for us," said Kurt Busch "We had the fastest car when it counted." Kurt Busch also stated that going with only two tires made his car tight.

"I could smell it," said Martin Truex Jr. who finished in second.
