"Tough race to win," said Kurt Busch. "Car is strong," said Mark Martin.
Due to rain the fell last night NASCAR is going to through out a competition yellow at lap 15.
The first lap saw some major action as Kyle Busch got loose. He then wound up collecting and or just damaging Sam Hornish Jr., Elliott Sadler, Joey Logano, Bobby Labonte, Todd Bodine, David Reutimann, and Reed Sorenson who wound up with some major damage to his car.
After the green flag dropped it got even wilder. Ryan Newman starts off on lap 10 slowing up big time to make it to pit road for a bad tire. He also had to come down pit road on lap 11 for the same thing. Lap 11 also saw Carl Edwards, Denny Hamlin, and A.J. Allmendinger come done pit road for overheating issues. Two laps later it iwas Brad Keselowski coming down pit road for the same thing. One more lap goes by and Robby Gordeon does the same thing, but he does not replace a tire that blows up on the next lap. Max Papis also winds up with massive car problems as well to help bring out the caution and the competition yellow as well.
The leaders pit and Jimmie Johnson was able to win the race off pit road. Denny Hamlin though had to make an extra pit stop to look over his car. The green flag drops and Juan Pablo Montoya was able to win the race to first place and starts to open up a nice sized lead on the field. He then starts to complain of a vibration on his car and comes down on to pit road at lap 39 to replace a bad tire. He would stay on the lead lap though. This put Mark Martin into the lead of the race.
At lap 48 it was the start of mess load of cars to do green flag pit stops. This helps put Juan Pablo Montoya in the lead of the race with Greg Biffle now in second and chasing down Juan for the lead. Greg was to catch Juan and pass him for the lead on lap 62. At lap 66 the caution finally comes out for debris that saves Juan big time as he was only a few laps from his next pit stop.
The leaders pit and Greg was easily able to win the race off pit road. Jimmie Johnson had a long pit stop to make changes to his car. With a massive great restart Greg was easily able to win the race top first place. During this long green flag run Tony Stewart was able to march his way up the field. Jimmie though was still stuck around 22nd as he could not get a properly handling race car. Lap 98 finally saw the start to another round of green flag pit stops. Juan though the pit stops was able to get the lead back from Greg Biffle.
Greg though was getting hot again and then the next debris caution came out with 44 laps left. The leaders pitted and Juan easily won the race off pit road. Jimmie though had yet another long pit stop to fix problems with his car, but he was also the last car on the lead lap at the time of the caution.
The green flag drops again with 39 laps left and Juan was able to get the lead while Jamie McMurray took second away from Greg Biffle. Juan started to then pull away from the field again. With 31 laps left Jeff Gordon winds up with tire problems, but made it to pit road with no problems.
With 27 laps left Tony Stewart was all the way up to fifth while Greg Biffle was trying to get second place back. With 22 laps left though the next debris caution comes out. Jamie McMurray wins the race off pit road due to taking two tires. The top six drivers did that with Juan Montoya in seventh as the first car off pit road with four tires.
With 18 laps left the green flag drops with a great Jami McMurray restart gets him the lead of the race with Kevin Harvick chasing him down. Juan Pablo wound up not even moving up. Right at the start of 15 laps left Kevin Harvick takes the lead of the race and then at the entrance to pit road Juan Pablo Montoya gets loose, hits the wall, and then crashes with Dale Earnhardt Jr. to bring out the caution.
The green flag drops with 10 laps left and Jamie McMurray on the outside was able to get the lead of the race. Jamie started to pull away from Kevin and the win of the race. The win is the second one this season for Jamie. Chip Ganassi though becomes the first owner to win the Daytona 500, Indy 500, and the Brickyard 400 in the same year.
"We didn't have the best car," said Jamie McMurray. He stated that Juan had the most dominate car today.
"I got tight going into turn one," said Kevin Harvick on the last restart. "We didn't have the lead car."
