Three In A Row For Marcos

Marcos Ambrose, Going for his third Nationwide Series win in a row at Watkins Glen, picked up the poll in morning qualifying.

Carl Edwards stated that his qualifying went really well. Kyle Busch stated that his car is going to be pretty good today.

The green flag racing started off with Marcos leading the laps with Joey Logano right behind him. At lap 4 it was Brendan Gaughan spinning out, but he did not bring out the caution. Lap 10 saw the first car come down for service. Four laps later and Joey Logano pits. At lap 18 Tony Raines spins out, but does not bring out the caution. Marcos pits around the time of the spin.

After his pit stop is over Joey Logano wound up as the race leader. Lap 19 saw Victor Gonzalez Jr. blows a tire, but even he does not bring out the first caution yet. On the next lap the debris caution flies. This caution wound up brining Carl Edwards behind the wall as his car was running flat.

The green flag finally drops on lap 24, but at the exit of turn one Jason Leffler and Colin Braun get together. They wind up collecting cars of Justin Allgaier, Brendan Gaughan, Alex Kennedy, Trevor Bayne, Boris Said, and more. Kevin Harvick was able to slow up in time to not even get hit. This brought out a 25 plus minute red flag.

"Everyone stopped in front of us," said Billy Johnson. Justin Allgaier said he saw the #38 car(Jason Leffler) get out of shape. Jason Leffler started that he takes blame for the wreck, but Colin Braun needed to give him some more room to come back on the track.

When we get back to yellow flag conditions Carl Edwards was back out on the track, but in 36th position.

The green flag drops and Joey starts to lead more laps while Kyle Busch was able to move around Marcos for second and then Joey for the lead of the race. At lap 30 Carl Edwards was up to 31st spot, but wound up taking his car behind the wall for the final time as he picks up a DNF. At lap 41 Marcos was able to use lapped traffic in order to get the lead of the race from Kyle. Kyle would come down on lap 48 for his pit stop.

Lap 51 Marcos Ambrose finally pits and was able to get the lead of the race again after passing Jacques Villenueve who did not pit. At lap 52 it was caution time again for Justin Allgaier and his smoking car that was also leaking oil.

With 26 laps left the green flag drops again and Marcos was able to win the race to first place. He was then able to start to extend his lead over Kyle. By lap 60 it was over 2.5 seconds. It all went away with 19 laps left as car parts fell out of the Paul Menard car.

When the green flag dropped with 16 laps left Marcos took the lead and started to build it up big time in a hurray. With 4 laps left he had a 3.5 second lead over Joey Logano. With 2 laps left Ryan Newman blows a tire, but does not bring out the caution as Marcos cruised on for the victory.

Frank Kerr who was his crew chief for the day stated that they are going to try to go for the double this weekend.

"What a great day for out guys," said Marcos Ambrose.

"It was a weird day," said Kevin Harvick.

"Had a really good car," said Joey Logano.

After the race was over Carl ended the day in 33rd position, but is now 327 points out first place. It was also the first DNF for him this season.
