Kasey Kahne picked up the poll for the Saturday night race at Atlanta. They will be driving 300 miles in the Great Clips 300.
"The track is going to change a lot," said Kasey Kahne. Kevin Harvick state that is car is fairly good. Kyle Busch stated that the NOS Energy drink Camrey was good in practice.
The race started off with Kasey Kahne and Kyle Busch battling for the lead of the race. Kyle was abel to get the lead on lap four, but Kasey was back in the lead at lap 11. Then Kyle Busch got hot again and took the lead fo good at lap 26.
The caution though finally came out on lap 42 for debris. The leaders pitted and Kyle Busch easily won the race off pit road. Green flag racing though only lasted until lap 60 as Michael McDowell spins out. This caution brought in a bunch of cars on the lead lap including the Kevin Harvick, but the leaders stayed out.
The green flag drops and we get the longest green flag run of the night. Kevin and his fresh tires make him a rocket as he was able to pass Jamie McMurray on lap to take the lead of the race. He then starts to pull away into a huge lead. At lap 90 as Kyle Busch passed Jamie McMurray for second Kevin had a 10 second lead over second place. At lap 100 green flag pit stops stared. Kasey Kahne came down on lap 104 while Kyle Busch came down on lap 108. Kevin Harvick was still leading laps and for a few laps was the only car left on the lead lap.
Lap 121 finally saw Kevin Harvick pit with his almost 13 second lead, but they went with a strategy of using a set of tires withy some 18 laps on them already. He wound up losing the lead to Kyle Busch and was around 8 seconds behind him. As the green flag laps kept on winding down Kevin was catching up to Kyle. Lap 141 though saw Steven Wallace smoking big time as he made it down to pit road.
The caution finally comes out on lap 147 as Trevor Bayne gets spun out. This brought in all the leaders and Jamie McMurray was able to win the race off pit road.
The green flag drops and Jamie easily won the race for the lead. With 38 laps left Kasey Kahne slows up big time, but makes it to pit road without a problem. The caution though comes out 10 laps later as Reed Sorenson smacks the wall really hard.
Brad Keselowski stays out while the rest of the cars on the lead lap pit. The green flag drops and Jamie McMurray easily gets the lead of the race while Brad goes backward in a hurray to 11th spot. Jamie though was slowly pulling away from Kyle Busch, but in the final laps though Kyle was closing in on Jamie and wound up with not enough laps for Kyle to win the race.
"I just had the best car today," said Jamie McMurray.
Kyle Busch stated that they gave me a good enough car to try to win the race.
"Rolled the dice to win," said Brad Keselowski. He also stated that he was prepared for another caution. Brad finished the race in 12th.
"It was like a big dirt track out their," said Carl Edwards.
"Decent night for us," said Ryan Newman.
