Tony Atlanta.jpgSprint Cup drivers are back for the second time this year for some Sunday night racing. Earlier in the week it was Denny Hamlin picking up the poll the event.

"Had really good speed right out of the truck," said Denny Hamlin. Jeff Gordon stated that he though he was going to be really good tonight.

At the start of the race we wound up with the longest green flag run of the night. Denny Hamlin and Ryan Newman started the race off by trading the race lead. Denny Hamlin fully took it over on lap 25 though.

The green flag racing continued and the first round of green flag pit stops started at lap 46. Jamie McMurray wound up missing the entrance to pit road and Kyle Busch wound up with a penalty for entering pit road too fast. After the Kyle Busch served his penalty Tony Stewart got the lead of the race with Denny Hamlin in second.

During this segment of green flag racing Kyle Busch come down on lap 70 to replace a bad tire. Then at lap 87 Denny Hamlin finally catches up to Tony Stewart to take the lead of the race. Both Denny and Tony trade the race lead a few times as the second round of green flag pit stops started. After all of them were over Tony Stewart kept the lead of the race again.

The green flag just kept on flying by and around lap 113 it was Joey Logano having some car problems. Denny Hamlin was getting hot and was able to get the lead of the race again at lap 127. It was getting close to another round of green flag pit stops, but the debris caution finally comes out on lap 133.

The caution brought in the cars on the lead lap and Denny Hamlin won the race off pit road. The green flag drops and he took the lead of the race, but at lap 143 he brought out the caution and he smokes big time while spinning out. "It's frustrating," said Denny Hamlin. He also stated that when the 20 car(Joey Logano) has problems he has problems. This wound up being the caution Kyle Busch needed as he got he lucky dog pass to get back on the lead lap.

The caution did bring in the leaders with Tony Stewart winning the race off pit road. Kevin Harvick and Clint Boyer though wind up making an extra pit stop to fix some car problems. The green flag drops and it quickly went back to yellow on lap 152 as Greg Biffle spins out with some help from Ryan Newman. Elliott Sadler with no where to go winds up getting hit by Greg and then Elliott winds up crashing into the wall hard. Elliot Sadler stated that he saw the Greg Biffle car spinning out, but that he could not go any lower on the race track.

The green flag drops and Jimmie Johnson was able to get the race for a few laps until Tony Stewart was able to take it back on lap 170. At lap 178 Jamie McMurray comes down to replace some bad tires. Tony Kept on leading more and more laps and then at lap 201 it was caution time again as David Ragan spins out. The caution brought in the leaders and Tony Stewart was able to easily win the race off pit road.

The green flag drops and Tony Stewart wins the lead again. Around 96 laps left Greg Biffle who was back out on the track wound up slowing up big time, but made it back to pit road. Carl Edwards though was getting hot and was starting to cut into the lead Tony had and with 87 laps left it was down to almost 2 seconds. With 74 laps left though Carl Edwards was able to take the lead of the race as green flag pit stop started again. A couple laps go by and Kevin Harvick brings out the caution as a tire completely explodes on his car.

After all the cars left that needed to pit Carl Edwards was back in the lead of the race. Carl Edwards got the great restart as Tony Stewart who was in second place lost a couple spots. Then in a couple laps Scott Speeds brings out the caution as his car goes up in smoke big time. Then Paul Menard winds up going behind the wall.
"I'm fine," said Scott Speed.

This caution did bring in the cars down pit road for service. Martin Truex Jr. was the winner off pit road this time. Kurt Busch though stays out to lead the race. When we get back to green flag racing Kurt Easily won the lead of the race. Kasey Kahne though got hot and took the race lead with 45 laps to go. Jimmie Johnson and Carl Edwards got hot again and with 37 laps left was right behind Kasey for the lead of the race. Over the next bunch of laps they could not get passed Kasey for the lead of the race. With 30 laps left the caution comes out for Bead Keselowski that spins.
The caution brought in the leaders with Carl Edwards winning the race off pit road with Tony Stewart coming back out in second place. The green flag drops and in the back Kasey Kahne winds up getting loose hitting Kurt Busch, this winds up causing a tire run and then some debris to get onto the race track due to him not being able to get onto pit road.

This caution brought a bunch of cars down pit road for service while the cars up front stay out. Tony Stewart was able to keep the lead after the restart while Jeff Burton and his fresh tires was passing cars big time. Jeff got up to around fifth, but could not move up any closer. Tony was able to survive the final laps and get his first win in 2010.

Tony Stewart stated that he was bad when he was back in traffic.

"Were back," said Carl Edwards.

"Really a good night," said Jimmie Jonson.
