Brad Takes The Race

Brad Keselowski Charlotte 2010.jpgThe Nationwide series is back for the final Friday night race of the seasons as they battle for 300 miles in the Dollar General 300. Clint Boyer in the Friday afternoon qualifying session won the poll for the event.

Brad Keslowski stated his car is really really fast on the short runs. "Godaddy car is going to have a decent night," said Danica Patrick. Clint Bower stated that he hopes to keep the track position and win the race.

It was not long at all after the green flag dropped and Parker Kligerman spins out and smashes into the wall for the first caution of the night. At lap 6 it was back to racing, but this time it lasted only a few laps and at lap 10 Michael Annett gets loose and takes out Joe Nemechek and Shelby Howard.

In the first good green flag run of the night Clint Boywer started out leading laps, but then Kyle Busch got hot and was able to lead for the first time on lap 23. By lap 50 he had a 2 second plus lead over Clint. In the next couple of laps the green flag pit stops started. Aric Almirola led a few laps during this time period and then James Buescher got to lead a few laps. James gets really lucky and on lap 64 the caution came out as Brian Scott gets loose and smacks the wall.

A bunch of cars take the wave around to put 23 cars on the lead lap. The green flag drops and the caution came out rather quickly on lap 72 as Robert Richardson and Ryan Truex get together. "I tried to slow it down," said Ryan.
Another short green flag run and lap 81 sees a caution for debris. This caution though only brought in some of the cars on the lead for service. After the green flag dropped this time Joey Logano was able to win the race to first place. Joey did not have the lead for long and at lap 94 it was Kyle Busch in the lead of the race. Clint Bowyer started to get hot again and he was able to take the lead again at lap 113.

At lap 119 it was green flag pit stop time again. Clint came down on lap 120. This helps put Martin Truex Jr. in the lead for a while. Martin finally pits on lap 140 and Brad Keselowski takes over the lead. Brad pits on lap 144 and Kyle Busch finally gets the lead back on lap 145.

With 46 laps left though the caution finally comes out so they can give Brian Scott his proper spot back. The brought in the leaders and Kyle Busch was able to win the race of pit road. Clint Boyer though got busted for entering pit road too fast. Brad Keselowski stays out to lead the race.

When the green flag dropped both Brad and Martin had a multi lap battle for the lead of the race. Brad was able to finally win the war. Kyle Busch was stuck in third place watching them battle. Brad then started to break out to a 1 second lead over Martin.

Around 18 laps left and the next caution comes out as Brian Scott gets loose and then takes a wild ride in the grass. This caution brought in some of the cars on the lead lap down for service. Green flag racing did not last long and with 13 laps left Steven Wallace crashes with a little help from Trevor Bayne.

The green flag drops with under 10 laps to go. A short battle between Brad and Martin occurs with Brad getting the lead. He quickly busted out to a half second lead as he went on to easily win the race.

"This Challenger flew," said Brad Keselowski.

Martin Truex Jr. stated that the car was so good on those long green flag runs.

"Just had so much fun," said Justin Allgaier.

"Ran a little hot on the first run," said Danica Patrick. "We did our best."
