McMurray Is Back In Victory Lane

Sprint Cup drivers are back in Charlotte for the final night race of the 2010 Sprint Cup season. Jeff Gordon on Thursday night picked up the poll for the event.

The race started off like the one last night with an early caution on lap 3 for Ryan Newman who spun out. Also getting damage was Tony Stewart. After the green flag dropped Kyle Busch shot out like a rocket to lead the race. The next caution though came out on lap 24 as Kurt Busch spins out. The caution brought in the leaders and Jeff Gordon won the race off pit road.

When the green flag dropped again Kyle Busch with another rocket of a restart was able to get the lead. Green flag racing did not last too long this time either and on lap 35 it was Jimmie Johnson spinning out. That finally got us to the first long green flag run of the day Where Kyle Busch started to lead more and more laps. Around lap 75 it was green flag pit stop time and after all the pit stops cycled through Kyle Busch was in the lead again.

The first debris caution comes out on lap 108. The leaders pit and Kyle Busch wins the race off pit road. This time we only had a short green flag run as Kasey Kahne gets loose and smacks into Sam Hornish Jr. on lap 123. This caution though brought in many cars down pit road, but driver such as Mark Martin and Jimmie Johnson do not pit at all.

At the drop of the green flag Mark started to lead a few laps and then Jamie McMurray got the lead of the race on lap 136. Jamie then started to break out to a one second plus lead over Mark. Green flag laps kept on winding down and lap 170 saw the start of green flag pit stops again. This helped put Kyle Busch back into the lead again, but he would come down pit road five laps later. After the pit stops were over Jamie McMurray was back in the lead again. Jimmie Johnson got hot though and took the lead of the race on lap 189.

Lap 191 though saw Jeff Gordon loose power in his car and quickly fell back to the last car on the lead lap. At lap 203 it was caution time again as Marcos Ambrose spins out. The leaders pit and Kyle Busch won the race off pit road. As Kyle Busch was leading more laps Jamie McMurray started to get hot again, but the caution came out on lap 239 as Robby Gordon spun out into the grass.

This caution brought in the leaders and Kyle Busch beat all the cars off pit road again. Green flag racing did not last long at this time with 89 laps left it was Jeff Burton spinning out. This left to another good long green flag run with Kyle leading more laps. With 50 of them left Kyle was leading Jamie by over 3 seconds. With 45 laps left cars started to make some green flag pit stops. After the pit stops were over Kyle was in the lead again.

Jamie McMurray though got hot again as chased down Kyle, but the caution came out with 26 laps left for debris. This caution brought in cars in the back of the lead lap down pit road for service. The green flag drops and Jamie McMurray took the lead of the race. Jamie broke out to a one second plus lead as the laps winded down. Jimmie Johnson made a couple attempts to get second from Kyle Busch, but it could not occur as Jamie took the win.

"Had a really good car," said Jamie McMurray.

"Needed the track to come to us," said Jimmie Johnson. Jimmie was only able to extend his lead by five points over Denny Hamlin.

Kyle Busch stated that he just did not have it at the end.

"Just couldn't get quite right," said Denny Hamlin.
