Denny Wins Wild Race At Texas

Denny Hamlin Texas 2010.jpg Denny Hamlin, Kevin Harvick and Jimmie Johnson are back to Texas with just three races left to decide the championship. Elliott Sadler though has picked up his first poll of the 2010 season.
Denny Hamlin stated that his car is better than his practice times.

At the drop of the green flag Greg Biffle wins the war for first place. It was not too long and and on lap 11 Joe Nemechek starts smoking to bring out the caution. The leaders pitted and Greg Biffle wins the race off pit road.
This led to a good green flag run that did see Dave Blaney have a smoking car on lap 24, but made it to pit road and not bring out the caution. The caution came out on lap 42 for debris. The leaders pit and Mark Martin wi0ns the race of pit road this time.

Mark did not have the lead for long and Greg Biffle was back in the lead. Green flag racing did not last long and on lap 58 it was Same Hornish Jr. smacking the wall to bring out the caution.

The leader pit and Greg Biffle wins the race off pit road. This finally led to a long green flag run that started out with Greg leading laps as Mark Martin got hot. Mark takes the lead at lap 97. Mark gives up his lead at lap 105 to pit as green flag pit stops starts. during this time Jimmie Johnson and Denny Hamlin get to lead the race. Mark gets the lead back after the pit stops were over. The green flag racing finally stops on lap 132 as Martin Truex Jr. winds up in the grass.

At the drop of the green flag Greg Biffle and Joey Logano battle for the lead of the race with Greg winning the battle after a couple laps. Green flag racing did not last too long and at lap 151 it was a blown tire for Martin Truex Jr. to bring out the caution. This time it was a really short geen flag run and at lap 159 it was Kyle Busch spinning out for the next caution.

At the drop of the green flag Greg Biffle leads laps as Joey Logano gets hot. Joey Logano gets ahead of Biffle on lap 176 for the lead of the race. The caution though pops out again on lap 191 as Martin Truex Jr. whacks his car into the wall again. Elsewhere on the track though Jeff Burton and Jeff Gordon get together and crash hard. When they both got close to the ambulance it was nothing but fight time as punches got thrown. Officials stopped it very quickly though.

Jeff Burton stated that he should have let him (Jeff Gordon) go and that it was "100% my fault." "I got to the inside of him," said Jeff Gordon. "I'm still in disbelief."

The leaders pit and Joey Logano wins the race off pit road. Then the Jimmie Johnson pit crew gets dumped for the Jeff Gordon pit crew.

Joey did not have the lead for long after the green flag dropped and Greg Biffle took the lead back again. This was another long green flag run. Jimmie Johnson had a fast car on this green flag run and was able to back into the top ten as he was continuing to chase down Denny Hamlin and Kevin Harvick who were in the top five.

Around 90 laps left green flag pits stops started. Jimmie was in sixth place at this time, but still was behind Kevin and Denny. After pit stops were over Kevin was in third place while Denny was in sixth and Jimmie was in seventh. Kevin was getting hotter and moved into second place with 60 laps left, but was over five second back to Greg Biffle. Denny Hamlin was also getting hot as well and passed David Reutimann for third place. Around 50 laps left and it was another round of green flag pit stops.

With 45 left Jeff Burton did come back out on the track and he had a spray-painted on #31 on the passenger side of the car. Denny though was still hot and was able to move into second place. It was not long though and a debris caution comes out with 35 laps left.

The leaders pit and this time with two tire pit stops for the top ten drivers leaving pit road. Kevin Harvick was able to beat Denny Hamlin off pit road for the race lead. Jimmie Johnson though lost a spot.

The green flag drops and Denny Hamlin gets the best of the restart as he lead laps. Denny Hamlin lost a few spots on the restart while Jimmie only lost a couple. With 17 laps left Kevin hits the wall, but continues on. With 11 laps left Jimmie passes both Paul Menard and David Reutimann to get right behind Kevin Harvick. On the next lap Kevin get passed by Jimmie. The caution finally comes out with seven laps left as Patrick Carpentier spins out. Only six cars stay out while Kevin Harvick and whole lot of other cars pit.

At the drop of green flag Denny Hamlin and Matt Kenseth battle for the lead. Matt gets the lead, but had to let off the gas and dropped back to second. Denny takes the lead and goes on to win the race.

"What a run," said Denny Hamlin. "I know what our car has got." Denny takes a 33 point lead into the next race over Jimmie Johnson while Kevin Harvick is only 59 point back.

"Gave away so much track position in the beginning," said Jimmie Johnson.
