Daytona 2011 Weekend Thoughts
That had to be the best set of Daytona races ever. From the Friday night win by Michael Waltrip to the Sunday Afternoon with by Trevor Bayne you had it all.
Danica Patrick had a great car for her Saturday race. If it was not for the caution flag coming out when it did she still would have been on the lead lap and had a top ten finish.
Tony Stewart wins the Saturday race by a foot. It is like he is just totally automatic for him at Daytona in the Nationwide Series.
The tag team racing was really good. It was wild.
The switching between drivers in the team had to be so precise. A bad change and you could wind up like Regan Smith was late in the race, a car that was a sitting duck for a wrecking and got wrecked.
I did agree with Jeff Gordon though on the mega wreck. It was just too soon to really be doing so much three wide racing on such a new surface.
I do not know what David Ragan was thinking at the end of the race. He really blew his chance at the end of the race to get his first win.
Someone has to step out and sponsor the Wood Brothers Racing team pronto!!! You have a legit driver that can make the chase.
I think NASCAR needs a new rule change. They need to allow points to be retroactive so someone like a Trevor Bayne would not be in a bind trying to make the Sprint Cup chase. It would be real tough for a driver to start like 40 points back of 20th with or without a win just to even try to make the chase.
