Brad Gets The Big Win At Charlotte
On a hot Saturday Afternoon the Nationwide series drivers are at Charlotte for the History 300. Earlier in the day Joey Logano picked off the poll for the event.
43 cars qualified for the race with Travis Pastrana being the only car to not finish his qualifying effort. Dania Patrick though qualified her car in third place.
"Got a decent set up," said Ricky Stenhouse Jr.
"Balance is really good in qualifying," said Joey Logano.
Joey started the race off leading laps as we got a couple of early cautions. The first caution came out on lap 6 for Travis Pastrana that spun out. The second one was at lap 15 for Robert Richardson Jr. and his car that blew up.
This led to the first good green flag run that saw Kevin Harvick get the race lead and break out to a 4 second plus lead over second place as green flag pit stops started on lap 51. On lap 53 though as Kevin Harvick was about to make his pit stop Angela Cope brings out the caution as her car blows up.
The race restarted on lap and at lap 61 it was back to caution flag time as Travis Pastrana spins out once more. During this caution time points leaders Ricky Stenhosue Jr. comes down pit road so the pit crew can look over his ill sounding race car. After the green flag dropped it was behind the wall time for the Ricky Stenhouse Jr. car as they went to replace a broken drive shaft.
Kevin Harvick had another big lead this time as the green flag laps continued to fly by. At lap 111 we started and got in a full round of green flag pit stops. Kevin Harvick got the lead back after they we all over. The caution finally came out on lap 127 for Tayler Malsm that spun out. The caution brought in the leaders and Kasey Kahne takes only two tires to get the race lead.
This time we did not get a long green flag run. At lap 138 it was caution time as Jason Bowles and Josh Richards crash. Josh got loose and took out Jason. This caution brought in only some of the cars down pit road for service. The race restarted on lap 148 and went back to caution quickly as Brian Scott and Cole Whitt wreck hard.
Brian Scott said he had a fast race car.
The race restarts and Brad Keselowksi is out leading laps. Brad got a nice sized lead and then Denny Hamlin was closing up big time with around 10 laps left. Denny Hamlin could not catch up enough and Brad Keselowski was able to win the race.
"He(Denny Hamlin) was running pretty hard," said Brad Keselowski.
"Great battle back for the Sports Clip Toyota," said Denny Hamlin.
"Tried some pit strategy," said Elliott Sadler. Elliott finished fifth and gained over 20 points on Ricky Stenhouse Jr. for the lead in points.
