Brad Keselowski Gets Win Number 2 At Talladega

Brad Keselowski Talladega 2012.jpgDrivers were looking to avoid the big one and blown engines today on another hot day at Talladega. The race got delayed by 45 minutes as rain fell on the track earlier in the day. Jeff Gordon on Saturday qualified his car on the poll.

The first green flag run saw Tony Stewart lead most of the laps until lap 16 as Regan Smith blows an engine. The caution brought in the leaders and many cars just took on fuel with Matt Kenseth winning the race off pit road.

Then we had the longest green flag run of the day.

In the first piece of the green flag run Michael Waltrip got to lead a whole bunch of laps. Then at lap 44 Ryan Newman and his car headed for the garage. Jimmie Johnson at this time was working the high lane really good and then took over the lead at lap 46.
At lap 58 it was the start of the first round of green flag pit stops. Denny Hamlin wound up with a slow stop which shuffled him to the back of the lead lap cars in a hurry. Jimmie Johnson was able to keep the lead of the race after the pit stops were over. Then at lap 63 it was Dale Earnhardt Jr. getting the race lead.

A couple more laps go by and it was Jimmie Johnson taking his car to the garage. "Had such a good race car," said Jimmie Johnson.
As the green flag laps kept on going on Matt Kenseth and Michal Waltrip got to lead laps. When it got to lap 99 it was the second round of green flag pit stops. After the second round of green flag pit stops were over Greg Biffle was in the lead of the race.
Kurt Busch got hot and then he got the race lead on lap 120. He only had it for one lap and then Matt Kenseth took over the race lead. With 54 laps left with some help from Denny Hamlin that was a lap down by this time got Kurt Busch back into the lead of the race. The lead lasted for only one lap and Matt Kenseth was back in the lead of the race again.

With 47 laps left Kevin Harvick and Landon Cassill wound up running out of gas as cars start a third round of green flag pit stops. On the next lap though it was mega wreck city. Aric Almirola and Dave Blaney get together and they both take out Juan Pablo Montoya, Jeff Gordon, Martin Truex Jr., Carl Edwards, and more. This caution got Denny Hamlin back on the lead lap.

"I thought I was clear," said Jeff Gordon. "Not sure what happened," said Martin Truex Jr. on the wreck. "I don't know what happened," said Carl Edwards.

Matt Kenseth and Marcos Ambrose both pitted when pit road was closed and got a penalty for it. When the green flag finally dropped again it was Brad Keselowksi in the race lead. Denny Hamlin then got hot and was able to get the lead of the race with 28 laps left. After some more jumbling Matt Kenseth got the lead back.

With 14 laps left Jeff Burton makes a pit stop for fuel and then the next caution comes out for Casey Mears that spins out. Casey Barely touches Trevor Bayne and spins him out. Trevor moved on with minimal damage.

The race restarts with non laps left as Matt Kenseth takes the race lead with Kurt Busch in second. With 8 laps left by the end of the pit road Brad Keselowski helped get Kurt to take a wild ride and bring out the caution.

With 4 laps left the green flag dropped and the caution quickly came out as A.J. Allmendinger trying to block the move by Denny Hamlin winds up also taking out Kevin Harvick, Michael Waltrip. Paul Menard, Tony Stewart, and more. Denny Hamlin made some repairs on pit road and then went back out on the track and added more debris on the track.

This brought out the green white checker finish. When the green flag dropped Greg Biffle pushed Matt Kesnseth to a nice sized lead, But Brad Keselowski got a big push from Kyle Bsuch at the end of the lap to lead the race. On the final lap Brad Keselowski was able to pull away from Kyle and win the race.
Brad Keselsowki stated that he went into turn three high to try to break the handle that Kyle Busch had.

"Somehow I got disconnected from him(Brad Keselowski)," said Kyle Busch.

Matt Kenseth stated that it was a poor job on the last restart.
