2012 Sprint Cup Series Year In Review

Brad Keselowski won his first Sprint Cup Championship outlasting a monster sized dual with Jimmie Johnson. The race for the championship was really close with only two races left and then car problems finished off any chance for Jimmie Johnson to win the title.

Both drivers were able to pick off five wins a piece.

Matt Kenseth started off the year right in winning the Daytona 500 while Danica Patrick got the year off to a good start in getting the poll for the race.

A.J. Allmendinger wound up getting a big time suspension this year for failing a drug exam. He wound wind up going through the NASCAR "Road to Recovery" program and then got in a couple of races with Phoenix Racing at the end of the season.

2013 cars made their debut this year in testing at various tracks. Dodge though wound wind up leaving the sport as they could not make a deal with any team.

Penske that was in Dodge cars made the major announcement of a move to Ford cars for the 2013 season.

Joey Logano picked off a new 2013 ride at Penske Racing replacing Sam Hornish Jr. and A.J. Allmendinger that drove the car in 2012.

Matt Kenseth picked off a new 2013 ride at Joe Gibbs Racing replace Joey Loagno.

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. got a Sprint Cup ride as he took over the Matt Kenseth ride.

Kurt Busch wound up moving over to Furniture Row Racing at the end of season as he started his 2013 season a bit early. Kurt wound up giving the team three top ten place finishes in a row in the final three races of the season which is the best three race stretch of finishes for the team ever.

Kurt thought started off the year at Phoenix Racing where he pulled in only one top five finish at Sonoma.

Marcos Ambrose was able to win again at Watkins Glen in the Sprint Cup Series.

Carl Edwards who finished second in the points for 2012 wound up winning no races in a very disappointing year for him.

Kurt Busch and Ryan Newman get into a scuffle after the race in Darlington. Kurt Busch later in the year would wind up getting suspended for a Pocono race as he made some poor remarks to a media member in a Nationwide Series race.

In the biggest fight ever this season a pissed off Jeff Gordon wrecked Clint Bowyer on the track and then a behind the pit all fight break out among the pit crews for each team. Jeff Gordon wound up getting probation due to his actions.

Michael Waltrip racing made the chase for the first time ever getting both Clint Bower and Martin Truex Jr. to solid seasons.
