Readers of the blogosphere,
Throughout this two month process of busy transitioning, I am finally glad to say, "This is my new home!"
And, for you: welcome to the new home of The Purple Trojan! After a wonderful--and a most enjoyable--stay at Most Valuable Network for a year, it was time for a change.
I already know that Real Clear Sports and its extensive blog network will be extremely beneficial for the blog. I already know that the site will increase an already devoted readership to The Purple Trojan. And also provide great range for endless interaction among all bloggers and readers alike.
The Purple Trojan will also do its part in making it a two-way street.
After taking a few more journalism classes in the past year--including a Sports Commentary class taught by J.A. Adande--I am both confident and excited to get the ball rolling.
The Purple Trojan will include posts that truly epitomize a sports blog. Column-like articles. Photos. Videos. I am a lover of multimedia. And will do my best in offering my passion to you: the loyal readers of The Purple Trojan.
While covering all sports and all major issues in the sports world, pro and collegiate football are my realm. And my primary focus.
Please, please enjoy the blog. I know you will. If you would ever like to get in contact with me, just email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
And for the new readers...
My name is Brian Wagner. I am a junior at the University of Southern California, where I study Public Relations and Business. I gained some solid experience in journalism this past year in writing for the blog. I gained even more experience by being a sportswriter for The Daily Trojan.
I was born in West Texas and lived there for 10 years. My father grew up in Minnesota. His favorite team was the Minnesota Vikings. By the time I was two years old, I was sporting Fran Tarkenton jerseys and throwing Vikings footballs with my dad and brother. I was hooked. For as long as I can remember, the Vikings were my most favorite team--even in the struggling years.
Until a couple years ago.
When I first attended USC in the fall of 2007, I was pumped for football season. Although I had never been a "real" fan of USC until then, I transitioned very quickly. But my expereinces with USC football have changed tenfold since being in the student section freshman year. I am soon to enter my third season as a USC football student manager--a position that has been everything for me. So, slowly--and also quickly--my favorite team shifted towards Troy. With my Vikings a close, close second.
When you combine my passion of two awesome football programs, you get this. There are probably not many out in the world. But I know I am at least one.
I am The Purple Trojan.
