Rain Delay = Fireworks but no RedHawks game

--The much needed rain hit OKC last night about 6:00pm resulting in an approximate 2 hour rain delay before the game was called.  Fireworks did go on as planned though.  That delayed the AAA debut of Justin Smoak and the rehab start of Josh Hamilton to today.  Justin will be a nice addition to the Hawks.  He's a very nice kid and a solid player.  I also have only nice things to say about Josh who is one of the few Rangers players I root for and the only one who was never a RedHawk--though I guess I can't say that anymore huh? LOL

--Matt Peterson has an article on the always amusing on-field announcer Darren Ransley.

--Down in Frisco (well, technically up in Springfield) personal favorite Tim Smith stayed hot, hitting a grand slam and ended the night with 7 RBIs.

--Congrats to Esteban German who is the RedHawks sole representative in the AAA All-Star Game.  The names on the IL roster are more familiar this year, including ex-Hawk and personal favorite Chris Stewart, perennial PCLer Nelson Figueroa, and Red Sox super star Clay Buckholz

--Congrats to ex-Hawk German Duran who was claimed off waivers by the Astros.  It's good for German because (a) he stays on a major league roster; and (b) he had to be added to the major league DL (and thus draw major league salary) while he is recovering from his appendectomy.

--Brandon Boggs has hit the DL with a dislocated shoulder.  As I mentioned earlier, Justin Smoak has taken his spot on the RedHawks roster and will be the every day 1B.  The bad part is that leaves personal favorite Royce Huffman fighting for playing time in LF and DH.  Depending on how long Max Ramirez takes to recover from his wrist problems, I figure Royce may be the regular DH.  You also have to wonder if this spells the end of Nate Gold's second run with the Hawks since he will be battling for playing time when (if?) he comes off the DL.

--Hope everyone had a good Fourth!
