Diamond claimed, Eyre up...

Per the DMN, the Rangers have recalled Willie Eyre who is expected to be in uniform tonight.  Don't expect the Hawks to get a replacement pitcher.

It's the end of an era as the DMN reports that personal favorite and former 1st round pick Thomas Diamond has been claimed on waivers by the Cubs.  Thomas was the last of the vaunted DVD trio (i.e. the future of Rangers pitching) who was with the organization.  The other 2/3s, personal favorite John Danks and Edinson Volquez, were traded for Brandon McCarthy and Josh Hamilton respectively.  Thomas is a Cubs style pitcher and I expect him to do very well there.  Thomas was placed on waivers on 9/1 to clear roster spots for Craig Gentry and Kevin Richardson.  Good luck Thomas and thanks for being a good 2009 substitute favorite RedHawk!
