Today was both a sad and proud day for me as a Red Sox. Sad that Red Sox great Nomar Garciaparra who I watched grow up through the Red Sox system announcement his retirement. Proud because he announced his retirement as a Red Sox. Ten years ago I never doubted that Nomar would end his career as a Sox. I just didn't realize he would have 5 years away from the Sox before he did so.
Speaking of home grown talent, Hank Blalock signed a minor league deal with the Rays. He reportedly has an out clause if he is not added to the 25-man roster. Could be a fun Tampa trip for me if he is, along with personal favorites Carlos Pena and Joaquin Benoit.
The Rangers sent cash considerations to the Yankees for pitcher Edwar Rodriguez who the MFYs had designated for assignment. He reportedly has an option left and is likely to start in Frisco or OKC.
Kasey Kiker continued his scoreless streak, giving up just a hit in today's 1-inning pitched.
OMG this is just scary...athletes who think they can sing.
More support for my statement that Tanner Scheppers starts the year with the Hawks comes from the FWST.
