Last Season: Last offseason the Warriors signed Monta Ellis to a huge six-year, $67 million extension. Just a month later Ellis informed them he had a torn ligament that he hurt in a game of pick-up. Only that game of pick-up was actually a moped accident. The Warriors could’ve canceled his contract for his actions but instead suspended him without pay while he was injured. Basically, the Warriors were a complete mess last year. The only bright spot was rookie forward Anthony Randolph who averaged over 15 points and 10 boards in the final two weeks of the season.

Acquisitions: G Stephen Curry, C Mikki Moore, G Acie Law, F Devean George

Departures: G Jamal Crawford, G Marco Belinelli, F Rob Kurz

Starting Five: F Anthony Randolph, F Stephen Jackson, C Andris Biedrins, G Monta Ellis, G Stephen Curry

Bench Mob: Corey Maggette, Devean George, Ronny Turiaf, C.J. Watson, Mikki Moore, Speedy Claxton, Kelenna Azubuike, Brandan Wright (injured and will be out 4-6 months)

Most Interesting Man in the World: Monta Ellis – Ellis is another player that has a ton of potential but it doesn’t seem like he has the head on his shoulders to harness that potential. He’s only 23 years old but it seems like he has the maturity of a 15 year old. He lied to the team about injuring his ankle in a moped accident and his recent comments about Stephen Curry suggest he doesn’t play well with others. He has since backed off from those comments now that Curry has been hitting at will while Monta guards him. Interteam rivalries are always the most interesting, aren’t they?

Over the Hill: Corey Maggette – He’s just 29 years old and signed a five-year $50 million contract last offseason. This team is nowhere close to contending and the Warriors must develop Anthony Randolph. What that means is Corey Maggette is one expensive bench player. Maggette can get his points and rebounds but he doesn’t really help the team.

Ready to Break Out: Anthony Randolph – Anyone who watched the Warriors last year (although, why would you?) noticed the potential of Anthony Randolph. This kid was phenomenal. He’s like a more athletic Lamar Odom and the Warriors are hoping Randolph can reach the potential Odom never did. From the beginning he had a knack for blocking shots and as the season went on he really developed his post moves. Expect to see Randolph showing up in many highlights this year.

Outlook: The Warriors are a team in trouble. Stephen Jackson, their captain, recently said he wanted to be traded to New York, Monta Ellis is having his issues with Stephen Curry, and the organization fired Chris Mullin, the only person who seemed to have a problem with how dysfunctionl this franchise has been running. At best this team struggles, at worst it’s a complete train wreck.
