Even by college football's chaotic standards, this past offseason has been nothing short of extraordinary. Lots of teams changed addresses, the BCS came under siege like never before, and then the mother of all scandals broke out at Ohio State ... only to be topped by the mother of the mother of all scandals (the grandmama of 'em all?) at Miami.
Needless to say, the 2011 season, scheduled to start Thursday, should be very interesting, not to mention educational.
First come geography lessons (and math ones) with a flurry of teams switching conferences for this season and next, and inaugural championship games for the Big Ten and Pac-12. And then legal briefings, involving not only the ongoing investigations at Miami, Ohio State, North Carolina, Auburn (just to name a few), but also the BCS itself.
On the field, there will be no lack of drama, either. Auburn's dream season is now complete, and the Tigers will wake up finding themselves in the bottom of their own division. Their hated rival Alabama is poised to make a run to win the SEC's sixth BCS title in succession. As far as personal hardware, the engraver is hard at work putting Andrew Luck's name on the Heisman Trophy. But he did that with Sam Bradford a couple of years before, too, and look how well that turned out.
With this much going on, you'll need help to sort everything out. That's why we came up with our helpful Top 10 Storylines for the 2011 College Football Season.
