The 1997 Florida Marlins

They say you can't build a team through free agency. Yet that's what the Marlins did, signing Al Leiter, Kevin Brown, and Devon White in the offseason before 1996, then adding Bobby Bonilla, Moises Alou, and Alex Fernandez during the next offseason. The three pitchers combined for 92 starts and 44 wins in 1997, while Bonilla and Alou were 1-2 on the team in RBIs and extra-base hits for the 1997 World Champions.
