Kirk Gibson - Signed by Los Angeles in 1988, three years, $4.5 million.

The 1987 Dodgers were last in the league in scoring, and desperately wanted to add a power bat. When Kirk Gibson was released from his Tigers contract because of ownership collusion, he signed with the Dodgers and gave them 25 HR and 76 RBIs – underwhelming totals, but good enough to win the MVP when L.A. took the NL West. His home run in his only World Series at bat, off Dennis Eckersley to win Game 1, remains one of baseball's most memorable moments.
