The Golden Bear is widely considered to be the best golfer of all time, and nowhere was he more domnant than at Augusta National. His game evolved as he aged, building from a power player to an all-around ace and one of, if not the, best clutch putter ever. At one point in the '60s there was talk about redesigning the entire course because it was so well suited for the power of Nicklaus and Palmer. Of course by the time he won his sixth Masters, Nicklaus wasn’t winning with his tee shots.

He won the Masters in just about every way possible, holding off challengers, running away with a nine-stroke win in 1965, winning a playoff the next year in 1966, and making a furious charge for a come-from-behind victory. In his last Masters victory in 1986 he rallied from four strokes back with a legendary charge on the back nine to become the oldest Masters champion at age 46. Nicklaus’ birdie putt on the 17th hole remains one of the most iconic shots at Augusta and possibly in golf history.

Not only did Nicklaus win six times, he also recorded six more top-three finishes, and 22 top-10s.
