2. Vikings Should Go After Vick, Not Favre
Vikings Should Punt on Favre and Chase Vick - Mike Florio, Sporting News
The Vikings don't need him (Favre). Apart from the fact that they've got two fairly decent (but not great) quarterbacks on the roster, there's a Plan B.
Or maybe I should call it Plan V. ...
Imagine a Childress-style offense featuring Vick, Adrian Peterson, and rookie Percy Harvin. The wideouts might feel a bit neglected but, frankly, they've already been forgotten thanks to a passing game that can't take advantage of the mismatches created by the presence of Peterson.
Brett Favre finished behind only Drew Brees in touchdown passes and passer rating and led the Vikings to a 12-4 record and a first-round bye in the playoffs. Michael Vick, on the other hand, had as many touchdowns as Tarvaris Jackson: one.
In years past the Vikings didn't capitalize on single coverage on their wideouts as defenses keyed in on Adrian Peterson. But this year, the Vikings have actually relied more on their passing game than the running game and Favre has to get the majority of the credit.
Of course, Vick did have one rushing touchdown compared to zero for Favre. The 40-year-old can't run like he used to.
