The type of movie that is typically advertised during the Super Bowl is some sort of action blockbuster, or a surefire family hit, but I guess the people at Magnolia Pictures didn't get that message. During the 2006 Super Bowl, they shelled out the money to advertise The World's Fastest Indian, staring Anthony Hopkins. It told the life story of New Zealander Burt Munro, who spent years building a 1920 Indian motorcycle -- a bike that helped him set the land-speed world record at Utah's Bonneville Salt Flats in 1967. While the film garnered critical praise, it only made a paltry $5.13 million at the US box office. To put that in perspective, the average 30 second spot that year cost nearly half that amount.
