In just a few days the NBA playoffs will be under way. They will be filled with mostly familiar faces, but one heralded name will be new to the playoff scene, Kevin Durant. The Oklahoma City Thunder star has made himself a household name this year, leading the NBA in scoring at 30.1 points per game, but will he be able to perform at the same level under the bright lights of the playoff stage?

Many of the game’s biggest stars took the jump to the next level during their first postseason appearance, while other stars needed a few tries before they could advance their team, and reputation. Some lesser names have had great first-time playoff performances as well; for example, Rony Seikaly averaged 20 and 10 in his first playoff appearance in 1992 (but his Heat got swept in the first round).

Will Durant, or even a lesser-known first-time playoff participant (possibly Brandon Jennings?) be able to join the likes of these, the Top 10 First-Time Playoff Performances? Only players whose first playoff appearance occurred under the current 16-team format were considered (since 1984), and both individual and team performances were taken into account.
