9. Alexi Lalas
Alexi Lalas was the face of U.S. soccer during its run as host of the 1994 World Cup, though much of his face was covered by his goatee, sideburns and long red hair. Those features made him one of the most recognizable athletes in America – no small feat for a soccer player. He has since cleaned up after becoming a general manager and now working as a soccer TV analyst. He’s well groomed and usually wears suits, a striking departure from his image during his playing days.
