Havlicek Steals the Ball
"Greer is putting the ball in play. He gets it out deep and Havlicek steals it! Over to Sam Jones! Havlicek stole the ball! It's all over Â…... It's all over! Johnny Havlicek is being mobbed by the fans! It's all over! Johnny Havlicek stole the ball!"
Johnny Most's famous call is probably one of the most memorable in NBA history, of one of the league's early iconic moments. With the Celtics clinging to a one-point lead in the 1965 Eastern Conference finals, Philadelphia had the ball and a chance to end Boston's six-year reign as NBA champions. But with five seconds left in the decisive Game 7, Hal Greer's inbounds pass was picked off by John Havlicek, who was then mobbed as pandemonium descended on Boston Garden. The Celtics would go on to beat the Lakers to win their seventh consecutive NBA title.
