Reed's Inspirational Limp
Madison Square Garden is known as the Mecca of Basketball and no one moment is more famous than that of Willis Reed limping out of the tunnel just before Game 7 of the 1970 NBA Finals.
Reed had suffered a deep thigh bruise in Game 5 and without him, the Lakers destroyed the Knicks in Game 6 to even the series. He wasn’t expected to play in Game 7 but he shocked the Lakers and delighted the fans at MSG when he emerged out of the tunnel and won the tip against Wilt Chamberlain. Though he played little after scoring the Knicks' first two buckets, Reed had propelled the Knicks into a frenzy as they went on to rout the Lakers to capture their first NBA title.
