Preseason Preview

Brandon Jennings is proving to be the steal of the draft. The 20-year old rookie is lightning quick and already one of the more explosive players in the league. Jennings has slowed since his out of this world start to the season, but he’s still proven that he will likely be the face of this franchise for years to come. Unfortunately he’s been about the only bright spot for the Bucks this year.

Ready to Breakout vs. Reality: Andrew Bogut has improved his offensive game by becoming more aggressive. Although his shooting percentage is down from last year, he is taking significantly more shots and scoring more. He is a solid double-double guy, but will never be a star.

Over the Hill vs. Reality: To no one’s surprise Kurt Thomas isn’t doing much this season. Thomas is able to absorb a few minutes each game and hold his own defensively, but whatever offensive game he might have had is now completely gone as he is only averaging 2.4 ppg.

Worst Moment: No question about this one, Michael Redd tore his MCL and ACL in his left knee on January 10. Redd had a similar injury last year and some are speculating that he may be done in the NBA. Redd had been the Bucks best player for the better half of the last decade.

Best Moment: The Bucks new best player, Brandon Jennings officially introduced himself as a star when he dropped 55 points in the Bucks victory over the Warriors on November 14.

Best Case Scenario: Jennings and the Bucks get back to their early season form and are able to make the playoffs. New addition Jerry Stackhouse slightly softens the blow of losing Redd and provides a bit more depth at the guard spot.

Worst Case Scenario: The Bucks can’t recover from losing Redd and Jennings can’t put up points like he did early on as the Bucks fade down the stretch. And Redd’s injury prevents him from coming back anything close to what he once was.
