Rhythmic Gymnastics is a combination of ballet, traditional gymnastics, dance, and apparatus manipulation; you may know it best as the ones with the big ribbon, hoop, rope, clubs, or oversized ball. Rhythmic Gymnastics first entered the Olympics in 1984 with the women’s individual event; in 1996 they added the women’s group competition. Russia and the rest of Eastern Europe dominate the competition. The USA has never medaled.
