1. DeAngelo Williams – How efficient are you at your job? I have a feeling DeAngelo Williams laughs at your performance marks. On Sunday, Williams scored four touchdowns on just 21 carries – that’s nearly 20% of the time. His quad-score day, along with 72 yards, helped Carolina to a huge road win in Green Bay.
2. Donovan McNabb – At the risk of sounding like a hacky sports writer, maybe Andy Reid should bench Donovan McNabb more often. A week after getting demoted at Cincinnati, McNabb came out firing against Arizona Thursday night, completing 27 of 29 passes for 260 yards and four touchdowns (half of which went to this week’s MVP, Brian Westbrook).
3. Thomas Jones – Don’t mind him: just 138 yards and two scores (on just 16 carries). People have been quick to pinpoint Brett Favre as Jesus, Santa Claus and Iron Man all rolled into one, as well as the reason behind the Jets’ turnaround this season. Maybe they need to give Thomas Jones some credit?
Last year, Jones scored just one rushing touchdown and averaged 3.6 yards per carry. The Jets went 4-12. This year, Jones is moving the pile to the tune of 4.67 yards per rush and has already scored 11 TDs. And the Jets are 8-4 and first in the AFC East. Coincidence? I think not.
4. Aaron Rodgers – Rodgers was 29-45 with almost 300 yards (298) and three touchdowns. It’s his fifth game this season with at least three touchdowns, but the Packers are just 2-3 in those games. I’m guessing Packer fans pay more attention to those numbers.
5. Tony Romo – Yeah, the Cowboys are still pretty good, especially when Romo goes 22-34 for 331 yards and three touchdowns. Also: could the three games on Thanksgiving have been more boring?
