November 11 is Veterans Day; a time we celebrate and recognize all who have served our great country in the military. Throughout our history we have been faced with war, but through the efforts of our soldiers, we have kept our freedom and helped others around the world to obtain that same freedom.

Oftentimes war terms are thrown around all too haphazardly when discussing sports. Games are called battles, star players called heroes. But on Veterans Day it is a time to remember the true heroes in our nation, those who have helped defend her when called upon. Sometimes, the heroes on the field turn out to be heroes in real life too.  Hundreds of pro athletes have also served their country during war time.

You’ll find that this top 10 list is unnumbered as this list does not signify the 10 best pro athletes to serve our country in war; it merely honors 10 great veterans who entertained us on the field of play and defended us on the battlefield.
