Super Bowl Sideshow
IF IT’S THE ULTIMATE GAME, HOW COME THEY’RE PLAYING IT AGAIN NEXT YEAR?
Super Bowl week is the NFL’s unique contribution to the world of sports idiocy. With two weeks of buildup, tightly controlled access to the players and coaches, and nothing of importance to discuss, a brigade of worldwide media and corporate hot-shots has little to do but spread rumors, interview itself, and mutter about traffic and travel arrangements. It’s a strange and silly time, leavened only by the occasional even-stranger-than-usual event.

The follies surrounding the games proved more memorable than the games themselves. What follows is one man’s selection of the most noteworthy moments from XLIII years of Super Bowl sideshows.
