The two time all-star relief pitcher and NL saves leader in 1999, Ugueth Urbina was still pitching in the majors at the time of his November 2005 arrest. What did Ugueth do?
Well, Urbina and a group of men attacked five farm workers on his family property in Venezuela. What made his case so interesting, and infamous, is the manner in which they were attacked. Like something out of a movie, Urbina and his crew came at the victims with machetes, poured gasoline and them and then attemped to light them on fire.
Urbina was convicted of attempted murder, among other charges, and sentenced to 14 years in prison.
