What he lacks in coaching and game management skills, Herm Edwards more than makes-up for in early-morning workouts (he’s known to often run backwards on treadmills, at 5 a.m.) and motivational speeches (unfortunately, that doesn’t equal wins).
The latter was on display during a New York Jets conference on October 30, 2002, a few days after a loss to the Cleveland Browns. A reporter questioned Edwards on the team’s ability (or lack thereof) to win, and Herm kindly explain why, exactly, we play the game.
Before Blowup: 2-5
After Blowup: 7-2, AFC East Champions
