This is a non-partisan list, so fortunately President Bush's predecessor wasn't much of an athlete either. But that may be an understatement.
In First In His Class: A Biography of Bill Clinton, David Maraniss wrote that the idea of the 42nd president becoming a Rhodes Scholar was looked at as a joke. Not because of a lack of smarts, but because of a glaring lack of athletic ability.
Clinton’s “…friends knew Clinton’s athletic prowess, or lack thereof, all too well. He had started running the previous summer but was still somewhat out of shape. He had never played a varsity sport in high school or college. Even his mother called him ‘gawky and not quite coordinated enough.’”
It was said that Clinton’s best skill while playing touch football was winning arguments about whether or not someone had been touched.
