The past year for Isiah Thomas was seemingly ripped from the pages of a movie script. Though, a really bad, made-for-television, oddly dangerous, Lifetime type of movie.
Thomas was “reassigned” from his duty as Knicks’ head coach in April, a day after the team recorded their franchise-worst 59th loss, with specific instructions to not have any contact with any players. In his four and a half years with New York, as both President of Basketball Operations and head coach, he effectively took one of the league’s most storied franchises and ran it into the ground (and settled a sexual harassment suit during this time to boot).
Then, just last month, Thomas was rushed to the hospital after “an accidental overdose of a prescription sleeping pill.” Despite the fact the police-report said it was indeed a 47-year old man, Thomas attempted to “cover up” the incident by saying it was his 17-year old daughter who had overdosed.
And now, the New York Knicks are on pace for the most wins they’ve had since the 2000-01 season.
