Fred Lynn Hits Only Grand Slam in All-Star Game History


What: Fred Lynn hits the first All-Star Game grand slam, in the 50th anniversary of the Midsummer Classic

When: July 6, 1983

Where: Comiskey Park, Chicago, Illinois

How It Happened: Exactly 50 years to the day after the first ever All-Star Game was held in the same stadium - Comiskey Park - California Angels Fred Lynn hit the game's first grand slam.  In the bottom of the 3rd inning, Lynn came to the plate with the bases loaded and quickly cleared them, taking Atlee Hammaker out and giving the American League a commanding 9-1 lead.  Lynn was named the game's MVP as the A.L. went on to cruise past the National League, 13-3.
