Luis Aparicio - SS - 1971 A.L.

Luis Aparicio was more than just a serviceable major leaguer, finishing in the top-15 in MVP voting in five separate seasons, he was also a Hall of Famer, elected in 1984.  However, in 1971, in one of his final seasons, Aparicio made the All-Star team as a shortstop for the Boston Red Sox, a year in which finished with a .232 batting average and just 27 extra-base hits in 491 at-bats.  Interestingly, he actually got better during the second half of the season: Aparicio hit just .206 and slugged .287 in the first-half, which somehow got him elected to the All-Star Game.
